Camelot Unchained – Steam Early Access Announcement

Hey Folks,

We are excited to announce that as of Tuesday, June 2nd, at 2:00 PM EDT, Camelot Unchained will be going live on Steam Early Access! It has been a long road for us to reach this point, and while we know we still have a long way to go in CU’s development, this milestone ensures that we are moving forward to execute on our vision for the best large scale RvR-focused MMORPG possible.

Our developers are eager for the road ahead, and we hope that our newest trailer serves as a fitting call to arms to join us in the world of Camelot Unchained!

Additionally, we’ll be giving our current Backers a chance to come kick our butts in game! You can join us this weekend, on both Saturday, May 30th from 4:00 – 6:00 PM EDT and Sunday, May 31st from 4:00 – 6:00 PM EDT. If you’ve been waiting for a chance to hop online and knock around some developers, this is a golden opportunity to do so before the game is live on Steam.

With this announcement, we also wanted to take the opportunity to address a few potential questions and concerns.

What about the game’s NDA?

From the time we launch on Steam onward, we are lifting the NDA on CU. While this does not mean you are free to retroactively share content that was previously covered by the NDA, it does mean that you can freely share all content and gameplay going forward in whatever form you desire.

What does this mean for existing Backers?

Existing Backers whose accounts are in good standing and already own the game will continue to access Camelot Unchained through the Unchained Launcher. There is no additional cost for our Backers.

What about keys that come with existing Backer pledges?

Keys previously promised to existing Backers (i.e., Beta 3 invites) will still be honored. As it stands, our intent is to deliver these keys as a way for Backers to allow their friends to try the game before deciding if they want to purchase it. These keys will not be Steam codes, but will be redeemed via the Camelot Unchained store once it is back online, allowing Backers who are owed Beta 3 keys to distribute them to their friends as they wish. While this is yet to be implemented, we wanted to mention it here so that Backers know this method of access will be available in the future.

When will the CU store be open?

We are actively working on bringing the CU store online to provide an additional method for players to purchase the game.

When can we expect game updates?

We recently released an update to our Spring Roadmap that you can read about here. More generally, we expect to push a new build every other week, with major updates coming on a monthly cadence whenever possible.

In conclusion, we are beyond excited with being able to present the hard work that our team has put into getting Camelot Unchained to this point, and we cannot thank you enough for joining us on this journey. We look forward to continuing to listen and learn from your bug reports, feedback, and experience in-game, and we’ll CU soon!
