Patch Notes – Week of April 27th

RESOLVED ISSUES AND NEW ADDITIONS

  • NEW ARCHETYPE – Devouts. The Devout is a frontline fighter specialized in self-healing and party buffs, with each faction’s class including their own unique abilities and playstyle.
    • Arthurian: Abbot
    • Tuathan: Blessed Crow
    • Viking: Helbound.
  • CHAT CHANNELS. Added separate Whisper, Zone, Trade, Party, Warband, Officer, and Combat channels.
    • Switch to each by typing /(channel) and then space. For example, “/zone [space] MESSAGE”
    • For Whisper, type /whisper (name) (message)
    • Zone and trade are currently realm wide.
    • Say and Yell proximity chats will be released at a future date.
    • We are aware that, at this stage of development, players have been coordinating fights and content testing via the global channel – this is not possible for this iteration of the chat system, but it is our intent to revert this change in the short term for the convenience of players. In the long term, the global channel will remain Realm-restricted.
  • NEW TRADE SKILLS. Added Alchemy and Cooking trade skill recipes.
  • MAJOR LIGHTING OVERHAUL. Changes to improve color saturation and prevent ultra brights and darks.
  • Added consumable items.
  • Fixed a source of lockups and crashes while changing zones, loading and on death.
  • Support added for distance-based party buffs and multiple overlapping performer skills. 
  • Added memory leak detection and monitoring tools. 
  • Added context menu options for activating inventory item abilities.
  • Updated animation compression and rebuilt all animation data at higher quality to reduce jitter in the skeletons.
  • Improvements to terrain streaming to reduce pop-in while running. Also removes some issues with areas not showing the correct level of terrain detail.
  • Reduced base movement speed slightly and removed in-combat movement speed reduction.
  • Addition of new Herbalism gatherables: Garlic, Herbs, and Barley.
  • Updated drops from elemental enemies to drop correlating elemental cores used in Alchemy recipes.
  • You may now view the maps for each zone in your world map, and see ownership of PoIs on the map.
  • New trigger volumes for stone and wood materials applied to bridges and docks in all six zones.
  • Zone Emitter for Location – Forest Sauvage.  Provides zone location information to audio engine for audio unique to that zone
  • Added SFX for Water Splashing for Rivers
  • Applied Splash to Landing (from a Jump) when Raining.
  • Visual improvements and beautification added to the TDD home island, Eriu, and its POIs.
  • Updated weapon models for melee Bandit NPCs.
  • Updated Mana and Health Regen Status SFX
  • Removed movement acceleration buffs from permanent speed buffs and reduced short speed buffs to more reasonable amounts.
  • Adjusted resurrection abilities to use updated looping animations.
  • Adjusted SFX characteristics of Void Elemental.
    • Defined better EQ for all Elementals (HPF applied a bit)
  • Updated ‘Sell’ quests to include repeatable, periodic turn-ins.
    • Individual quests now repeat with increasing requirements. The design goal here is to provide quicker gold acquisition early while still providing a larger amount of gold for larger trade-ins.
  • Updated loading screens.
  • Added dynamic idle animations to the character select screen.
  • Improvements to some character and NPC textures.
  • Removed framerate stutter related to interaction UI.
  • Fixed cases where interaction UI was replaced by random UI textures.
  • Updated weapon models for TDD two-handed swords and Viking spears.
  • Updated cloud generation to improve quality and reduce random visual errors.
  • Updated starting armor so that each class now starts with an appropriate Tier 0 armor set for their class.
    • This change seeks to narrow the gap between Tier 0 and Tier 1 armor sets, especially for heavier armor classes. This should make it feel less mandatory to get a set of Tier 1 gear before engaging in RvR, while maintaining the value of upgrading to Tier 1 and beyond.
  • World UI performance fix for cases where it was updating more than once per frame.
  • Fixed bugs causing That Stalk the Night and Reposition abilities to not apply to party members.
  • Fixed icons for Spirit Pathways status effects.
  • Fixed bug causing Poison Weapons and Master of Shadows to not persist through respawn.
  • Improved UI performance in some specific use cases.
  • Fixed bug causing Stone Fang and Undermine to have the wrong icons.
  • Fixed bug causing Word of Chaos to display incorrect damage in the tooltip.
  • Fixed a bug causing Dark Fool abilities to be erroneously disabled.
  • Fixed a bug where Runic Aegis and Runic Barrier would stack and cause unintended interactions.
  • Fixed a bug causing some area effects to incorrectly affect players inside of the Veil.
  • Fixed a bug causing Spear of Lugh to not correctly apply the Fracture effect.
  • Fixed a bug with several abilities causing area effects to not be correctly destroyed at the end of the ability’s duration.
  • Fixed a bug causing the Panicked status to be removed from you when applying CC effects to others.
  • Fixed a bug where only one Performer buff could be active. Each Performer can now have one active buff on their party. Same buffs will not stack, but different buffs will work in parallel.
  • Fixed a bug causing Protection of Odin to display the wrong sized targeting circle.
  • Fixed a bug where control points would continue to be captured by disconnected players.
  • Fixed a bug causing Debuff Duration Reduction to not reduce debuff durations.
  • Assigned Debuff Duration Reduction to scale off of Will instead of Endurance.
  • Fixed bug with floating weapon and broken recovery phase on Mining and Logging animations.
  • Various fixes for missing or incorrect particle effects.
  • Removed flickering in link effects.
  • Fixed potential physics related crashing issue.
  • Fixed terrain related infrequent crashing issue.
  • Fixes for animation blending bugs.
  • Fix for crash on login.
  • Fix for terrain related memory leak. 
  • Fix for server crash.  

BALANCE CHANGES

  • Increased out-of-combat Courage degeneration delay for all Heavy Fighters to 30 seconds.
  • Reduced base Faith regeneration slightly and changed Judgement abilities to grant 250 Faith per point of Judgement.
  • The Atreisu, Comhorinn Fola and Comhinannu abilities now have SFX applied.
  • Nasc Cara now increases the linked target’s Physical and Magic Armor Rating.
  • Nasc Namhaid now reduces the linked target’s Strength and Attunement.
  • Reduced the damage per stack of the Dose of Poison ability.
  • Reworked Freya’s Prayer and Freya’s Command to better round out the Rune Healer’s kit.
  • Adjusted the Veilstalker’s Vaulting Strike to provide a burst of movement speed instead of teleporting.
  • Adjusted damage on the Red Cap’s Deadly Catalyst ability.
  • Shortened duration on the Red Cap’s Viper’s Kiss DoT.
  • Added ranged checks for Performer buffs to 90 meters.

KNOWN ISSUES

  • Occasionally, the Keep’s capture point becomes uncapturable.
  • Tab targeting will currently also select harvesting nodes and harvestable corpses, instead of just enemies.
  • Party and Warband UI may not update until relog or zone transition.
  • There are currently no gold requirements for crafting, which will be changed in the future.
  • If your faction controls the Keep, occasionally the ‘Respawn at Keep’ option on respawn will be grayed out.
  • Gathering when your inventory is full may fail silently with no notification.
  • Empath links may persist when logging in and out – this is a strictly visual effect.
  • Boars killed before PoI capture may not be harvestable.
  • Black Knight’s ability Blackened Blade will not conform to all weapons. Currently it only matches swords.
  • Client performance issues may be encountered when running in fullscreen mode (toggling to windowed mode and back to fullscreen appears to serve as a workaround).
  • Enemy NPCs may stand in place under certain circumstances.
  • Players may fall through the world during zone changes.
  • Expanding your bank currently does not work.
  • Some players may have missing Ability Cast bars.
  • Terrain flickering is present with ‘triangles’ appearing intermittently.
  • Several intrazone teleporters are labeled incorrectly (e.g. ‘Isle of Discordia) – they will teleport you as normal to areas within your current zone.
  • Targeting indicators are visible on terrain, but are not visible on assets.
  • Terrain Level of Detail suffers from pop-in.
  • The game client will often take a while to first draw a window on the screen after hitting ‘Play’.
  • When a new weapon is equipped to your character, and you have an old weapon equipped, the tooltip will incorrectly show the old weapon’s tooltip.
  • Gates are missing their ‘Interact’ prompt.
